The Trofeo Marco Rizzotti first edition was in 1987, as a tribute to the memory of its prestigious member, who died in 1985. This year it reaches the 35° edition.
Marco Rizzotti was a true sailor, sportman and active racer. He has very much navigated, following the glittering path of the moon, enjoying the silence of the good wind in a sunny day or facing challenging storms.
He was always ready to share his sailing secrets. He loved coaching the kids of the Club and some of them became National Champions and even World Champions. He felt a special love for the Optimist class, which he promoted and helped to spread enthusiastically even before the Class Association was created in Italy.
He has been President of the FIV (Regional Board). He was known and very much appreciated for promoting sailing in fairness and in accordance to the principles of sportsmanship.
He was also a poet and his simple verses are the expression of his deep love and for the sea and for our sport:
“Two sailing boats at sea are racing, even if they do not want to do it”.
